Award Season at Coláiste Dhúlaigh CFE

CDCFE students nominated for Royal Television Society Student Awards

Two productions from last year’s HND2 in Communication and Media Production and the BA top up in Video & Film Production in conjunction with the University of Wolverhampton have been nominated for the competitive awards, as part of the Republic of Ireland competition.

The projects and students responsible are:

  • MND: My Part in Its Downfall by Kraig McGovern, Niall Hughes and Louise Bartley (TV, Communication & Media Production HND2) Nominated in the Factual category.
  • Faith and Rectitude directed and produced by Enda McDonagh and Alan Breslin (BA in Video & Film). Nominated in the Drama category.

CDCFE film wins Short Film of the Year at the Student Media Awards

The awards ceremony took place at Aviva stadium on Thursday 7th April hosted by Irish media personalities and judges.

Coláiste Dhúlaigh had 50% of the nominations in this category with three out of the six films nominated, narrowed down from four out of 10 shortlisted films and two shortlisted scripts in the Short Script of the Year category, one from the BA in Video & Film Production top up course and one from the HND in Film Production.

The three films nominated were from the BA top up course in Video & Film Production at Coláiste Dhúlaigh CFE run in coordination with the University of Wolverhampton in the UK, from the graduating year of 2015.

The winner “Small Talk” was directed and produced by Greg Byrne and Stephen McKenna and Director of Photography was Martin Curley.
