CDETB commemorates the proclamation

Tuesday March 15th 2016 has been designated ‘Proclamation Day’ for schools in Ireland. All schools have received National Flags and copies of the original Proclamation. CDETB schools across the city are having a variety of celebrations and flag raising ceremonies to mark the occasion.

Pearse Day at Pearse College


Pearse College will reflect on Dublin and Crumlin of 1916 – the people, the education system, the society – with a day of exhibitions, events, tours and demonstrations including:

  • Public speaking/soapbox speeches/orations ƒ
  • The 1916 classroom – Cooking demonstrations ƒ
  • Community Groups – Dramatic re-enactments ƒ
  • Dublin in the early 1900s – an exhibition ƒ
  • Coins ƒ
  • The clothes we wore – an exhibition ƒ
  • Poetry, Song and dance from the old and the new Crumlin ƒ
  • How we ate in 1916 – exhibition ƒ
  • Talks & Walks – Guided bus tours of 1916 sites

Youtheach exhibition

Youthreach has added a 1916 category to its annual Easter Exhibition which takes place at noon on March 16th in Ballymun Main Hall. Entries can be 2D, 3D, paintings, sculptures… the sky is the limit.
