CDETB welcomes Ballyfermot Training Centre and Finglas Training Centre into our organisation

January 9, 2014

In accordance with the Further Education and Training Act 2013 the previous FAS centres in Ballyfermot and Finglas were transferred to CDETB on the 1st December 2014.  The transfers included the Training Centres and also the associated Community Training Centres (CTC’s), the Local Training Initiative (LTI’s) and the Specialist Training Providers.

Considerable work has already taken place at both local and national level to ensure a smooth transfer process.  Approximately 125 former FÁS staff have transferred to the City of Dublin ETB.
The former FAS centres will now be known as Ballyfermot Training Centre and Finglas Training Centre in line with a national approach to nomenclature.

Jacinta Stewart, CDETB CEO said: ‘Our entire sector has experienced amalgamation, consolidation and a widening of our functions. This is an exciting time for our organisation. We are charged with providing the people of Dublin City with more and more educational and training pathways that will meet the individual needs of an increasingly diverse range of learners.  CDETB is looking forward to the expansion that these new centres, their skills and experience will bring to our services.’
