The new Accounting Technician Apprenticeship, which will bring potentially 20 new jobs to the North Dublin area, is a practical route to a rewarding career in accountancy where participants put their learning into practice, under the mentorship of a qualified accountant or accounting technician. They get paid at least €17,797 a year and tuition costs are covered by SOLAS.

The programme was officially launched by Minister for Education & Skills Richard Bruton at Accounting Technicians Ireland’s Dublin HQ on Tuesday, August 15. It is part of the State’s expansion of the apprenticeship model into new fields, and organisations in industry, practice and the public sector have welcomed the opportunity to bring Accounting Technician Apprentices into their workforce.

Leaving Cert students, mature learners and existing employees who want to work in accountancy are welcome to apply for the programme, where they will work four days a week with a local employer and study one day a week at Coláiste Íde.

The jobs are available in industry, practice and the public sector, with organisations ranging from large accountancy firms to SMEs. Coláiste Íde’s participation in the programme brings the number of new jobs on offer to 120 nationwide. The new National Accounting Technician Apprenticeship is also being run in partnership with Bray Institute of Further Education, Blackrock Further Education Institute, Cork College of Commerce, Monaghan Institute and Rathmines College of Further Education.
