Congratulations to rising musical star, Hayley McMahon, who successfully competed recently for a three year scholarship in London.
Hayley, who completed Level 5 and Level 6 Performance courses at Liberties College, receives the O’Connor/O’Reilly Scholarship Award which will cover her musical theatre tuition at CPA Studios for three years.
This scholarship is awarded in partnership with a number of prestigious arts organisations in the UK, i.e. Trinity College (Guildhall), LAMDA, CDET, ISTD and CDET.
Hayley says: I began my training with Liberties College in 2014; since then I have gone on to complete my level 5 and 6 in advanced actor training. I chose to repeat level 6 to acquire more experience before entering further education.
In February 2017 I auditioned for CPA studios in the UK for their three year Musical Theatre diploma which involves intensive training within the three areas of performance I.e. singing, acting and dancing (ballet, tap, jazz) amongst other modules such as musical theatre studies/history, vocal and dance technique and fitness/nutrition. I was successful and I was lucky enough to have been awarded with the O’Reilly/O’Connor scholarship which was put into place to celebrate the success of the Irish students who previously attended CPA. The award was £30,000 and this will pay for my fees for the whole three years.
I am beyond grateful and I have loved my time studying with Liberties College.
I would like to thank my tutors for all of their help during my three years here, I could not have done it without them.
Hayley has worked hard to achieve this award and has been fully supported by her teachers, Brian Daly, Nicole McDonald, Simon Manahan, Niall Jordan, Katherine Murphy and Ciara Roche.
You can see Hayley perform alongside all her classmates in the musical ‘Guys and Dolls’ at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, 9 -13 May, 8pm.
