Did you know that energy efficiency simply means using less energy to perform the same function?

CDETB set up an energy awareness team in 2015. We have been carrying out energy audits on our buildings and devising energy saving plans. We are working with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) to provide energy management training and set up energy awareness teams in all of our centres. We send regular energy awareness notifications to staff to reduce energy consumption.

Every action you take makes a difference.  Here are four great things you can do.

  1.  Did you know that lowering your thermostat by just 1ºC will knock 10% off your heating bill?
  2. Closing room doors to separate heated from unheated areas will make a difference.
  3. Turning the lights off when leaving a room will make a difference.
  4. Switching appliances off rather than leaving them on standby will save up to 20% of your appliances’ energy use.
