Marino College provides Further Education and second level education on two separate campuses in Dublin City Centre and Fairview.
The Further Education College provides a diverse range of courses which equip students with the skills and knowledge to work in the areas of Health and Childcare, to find employment in traditional businesses as well as in more creative enterprises, or to progress onto higher education in the University and IT sector.
Full time qualifications are offered from QQI (level 5 and 6), NEBDN (National Examining Board for Dental Nurses) and ITEC (Beauty awards). Part time courses are also offered through the BTEI (Back to Education Initiative).
A comprehensive work placement scheme gives the students first-hand knowledge of their vocational area as well as providing them with the skills and experiential learning that are so attractive to employers. In fact, many of our students, especially in childcare and healthcare, are offered full-time employment in the organisations in which they carried out their work experience.
The variety of courses delivered in Marino also helps to create a vibrant college community and an active student union, supported by committed staff, works hard to ensure that students are given the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities, (e.g. the College organises an annual Zombie 5km run as well as events such as the Five Lamps Arts Festival). All of which provide students with a more interesting college experience.
Located in Dublin’s North City Centre, (500 meters from Connolly train station, the DART, Luas, Bus Áras and the main North side bus corridor) Marino College of Further Education is the most easily accessible Further Education provider in Dublin City Centre.
Marino College secondary school, located in Fairview, has a proud tradition of providing education to the local community in the North inner city since 1936. Our education provision is multi-denominational, co-educational and multi-cultural with over twenty nationalities represented at the time of writing. In keeping with the strong emphasis we place on developing the IT skills required for progression to work or to third level study, every student in Marino has been provided with a personal mobile IT device. The use of technology as a means of delivering the curriculum has been in place since 2004 and in 2015 Marino won the Bronze Award for Digital Media School of the year.
As a provider of Junior Cycle, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied, Marino was the most improved school in Leinster for College progression in 2015. In 2015 we also joined the Trinity College Access Program and will continue to prioritise making access to third level education a reality for our students.
We have a wide variety of supports available to our students such as 1. A full time school librarian who has placed reading at the heart of the college 2. Career Guidance Counsellor who advises students on College courses and offers personal counselling as required 3. Two NBSS support teachers who assist students cope with the challenges that modern teenage life can present 4. Home School Liaison Officer who ensures good communication and engagement with students’ families.
The College motto is “ Enabling, Enhancing, Educating”. The staff of both campuses believe in this motto and deliver on it.
