Education Support Service

The primary focus of the CDETB Education Support Service is to work closely with a number of its second level schools in relation to identifying and working with students, who for a variety of reasons, are either seriously disruptive or displaying behavioural difficulties.  These are primarily students who are progressing towards expulsion under Section 29 of the Education Act.

Working closely with the school and other relevant agencies the Education Support Service aims to

  • support the development of initiatives that reduce the risk of expulsion for these students
  • work with the student and schools in relation to their pre-expulsion and expulsion process
  • locate and assist students in finding alternative education facilities, where these are required
  • research and inform CDETB policy development in relation to this area
