And we’re not just open for those of you who are awaiting Leaving Certificate results.

Over the past months many people have been thinking about retraining, up-skilling or changing career.
Did you know that up to 75 per cent of students with a foundation in a Post-Leaving Cert course who move on to higher education complete their degree. By contrast, only 50 per cent of students who enter higher education directly with 300 CAO points complete their degree.
City of Dublin ETB offers PLC courses in everything from media to childcare, tourism to science – and PLC courses at CDETB colleges and centres offer a national QQI qualification. All CDETB Colleges are enrolling now for September.

Cinderella no more

Further Education has for too long been “the Cinderella of the Irish education system” and the “uninvited guest to the debates around dinner tables about what to do after Leaving Cert,” says Minister Simon Harris quoted in this recent article by Carl O’Brien Education Editor in the Irish Times titled More Option for Schools Leavers under new five-year plan
“Sometimes overlooked. Often undervalued. Conversations about third level education have been confined to discussions about CAO applications, points and university degrees,” Minister Harris said.
“Further education has been the uninvited guest to the debates around the dinner tables about what to do after Leaving Cert. We need to change all that. And we will.”
