Further Education and Training (FET) provides students with their first taste of many fast changing industries.
Did you know that a shortage in skilled technicians is perhaps one of the biggest future challenges faced by Ireland’s Motor Industry?
At our recent FET EXPO, Robert Ledwith, who teaches a QQI Level 5 course in Motor Technology in Plunket College, tells our CE Carol Hanney why the course is so popular.
In this interview with AUTOBIZ Robert says that one of the most satisfying aspects of his job is seeing how students, who come not just from schools but from a range of backgrounds, flourish and develop during the year. Many then embark on apprentice programmes within the industry, while others go on to further education and degree courses related to the automotive sector. He says, “The course has opened up some fantastic career opportunities for many students, giving them their first taste of this fast changing industry.”
The same could be said of FET courses A-Z.
