Coláiste Eoin 50th anniversary celebrations include major inter-school performance
Coláiste Eoin hosted a major event entitled Young Americans meet the Young Northsiders on Thursday 5th February as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.
Following a series of workshops run by the Young Americans, Coláiste Eoin and Cabra Community College combined with St Fergal’s, St Kevin’s and Gaelscoil Ui Earcain to put on a stunning performance which every participant will remember for all time as a highlight of their educational journey.
CEO Jacinta Stewart said ‘Coláiste Eoin has been in the privileged position of serving the Finglas community and creating a caring, inclusive ethos in the school for 50 years. As part of the 50th celebrations this event gave the entire student community an opportunity to take to the stage and shine and shine they certainly did. Their energy and enthusiasm was infectious. We are very proud of every member of this huge cast today’.
Principal Paula O’Brien said ‘Success builds confidence and self-esteem and promotes self-belief. The Young Americans is the ultimate holistic learning experience. It is great fun. It champions and includes all.’
The Young Americans is a charitable organisation dedicated to the promotion of understanding and goodwill among people throughout the world through music, dance, performance, academic education and cultural interaction among Student Members and their audiences. It was founded over 50 years ago in Hollywood, CA.
Three weeks earlier the school welcomed President Michael D Higgins and his wife to celebrate the schools educational service to the Finglas area. More events are planned throughout the year.
