Special Education Needs (SEN) Support Service

The Curriculum Development Unit in consultation with principals and the CDETB Psychological Service have planned and implemented a programme of SEN support for teachers in CDETB schools, colleges and centres.

SEN In-service was offered to teachers, Principals and Special Educational Needs Organisers (SENOs) in the following areas:

  • Introductory SEN Topics and classroom management
  • Supporting literacy across the curriculum
  • The Special Educational Needs Act 2004 – Drawing up Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs)

Other SEN support included delivery of a Trinity College Postgraduate Diploma module on ‘Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties’.
